Supposedly everything is governed by supply and demand. At least that's what her economics prof had said. He saw everything in terms of supply and demand. Student's grades, dating prospects, everything.

So, supply grows according to growth in demand. It happens gradually, there is no disruption, everybody is happy. It happens suddenly, you take desperate measures. Needs must and such. But what happens when the demand implodes again? You need to get rid of the surplus. You give it away or destroy it.
